WOLD SCIENCE CENTER
Union College - Schenectady, New York
Union College’s campus plan dates back to 1813 when French architect/landscape planner Joseph Ramee designed the campus with a large central court flanked by buildings on three sides. This made it the first unified campus plan in the United States. In the northeast corner of this large court is the 30,000 sf under-graduate science facility known as the Wold Center. The building marries with two other buildings on campus, the Olin Center and the Science & Engineering Center making it a social hub for this part of campus. The Wold Center houses lab space (an Energy Research Lab, a High Performance Computer Lab, Bio-Chemistry Labs) as well as classrooms and offices all knitted together with a central 3 story atrium. It is this atrium that provides the crossroads for collaboration between students and teachers in all three buildings.

NORTH QUAD RESIDENTIAL & ACADEMIC COMPLEX
University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, Michigan
As one of the first universities to offer courses in architecture in the late 19th century, it is no surprise that many of the buildings at University of Michigan are deeply rooted in historical architecture. The North Quad Residential and Academic Complex is no exception. In a collaboration with design architect Robert A.M. Stern Architects in New York City, the 360,000 sf mixed use complex includes offices, meeting rooms, classrooms, collaboration spaces, dining facilities and two residential apartment towers for students. The stately brick and stone buildings are arranged around a series of courtyards and plazas that offer a welcome intimacy from the surrounding urban context.

OFFICE TENANT FIT--OUT
Jerusalem
As a place of complexity and wonder in a city that seems to struggle with tradition vs modernity, Jerusalem is a melting pot of cultures, religion and yes, architecture. Nestled in the streets of East Jerusalem is a 15,800 sf, five story unassuming limestone building that was originally built as a multi-family dwelling. The task was to convert the building into offices for a single tenant which entailed a complete removal of the building’s interior. Completely reprogramming the building into offices, conference rooms, break rooms and collaboration spaces created a high performance environment that fostered collaboration and creativity. A modern exterior stair addition was added to the building which offered a welcome contrast to the aesthetics of the surrounding context.

FAMILY RESIDENCE
Prague, Czech Republic
Built in 1929 by a wealthy Czech banker, this 40,000 sf residence built in the Beaux-Arts style is just as impressive today as it was then. Situated on six acres in the heart of Prague, the 72 room mansion features not only lavish living and sleeping quarters, but also a library, an indoor/outdoor winter garden and a below grade indoor swimming pool. The challenge was a complete replacement and/or restoration of the original mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Careful consideration had to be paid to the removal and reinstallation of finishes such as ornate plaster, carved wood paneling and silk wall treatments. Upgrading the residence to be handicap accessible was also a challenge but the addition of a stone exterior ramp sensitive to the buildings historic character was a seamless solution that had the appearance of being original construction.

NEW OFFICE BUILDING & RENOVATIONS
Amman, Jordan
Considered one of the most westernized Arab cities, Amman contains an architecture that weaves ancient and modern in a cohesive fabric that looks toward the future but does not forget about its past. Situated on a gated community that contains an existing office building, a residence, a dining facility and various service buildings, the need for a new office building to satisfy an ever growing community population was apparent. This new 130,000 sf 3 story stone office building includes open office space, a fitness center, a health unit, a multi-use dining facility and elevated outdoor terraces with commanding views of the city. The project also completely re-programmed and renovated 61,000 sf of existing office space in an effort to bring the dated facility up to current infrastructure and space planning standards.

The project includes a 150,000 sf 4 story office building, high-rise residential apartments, 5,000 sf single family home and various support facilities.
